Do you have a meeting on the books to sit down with your team and discuss the end of Quarter 2? With only a few days left in July, it's time to start thinking about what you can do differently to succeed in Quarter 3!

Summer is a great time of year to rethink your strategy, do some housekeeping, and clear out what isn’t working, all while making room for new ideas and goals to come together.

So, where do you even start? Ask yourself the following questions:

Have you reviewed the past two quarters’ successes and failures?

Each quarter we recommend taking a step back and reviewing what worked and what didn’t work. Questions to ask include: What needs to be carried into the next quarter? What needs to be adjusted? How can we learn from our past mistakes so that they don’t repeat in the future?

Have you looked ahead at your upcoming objectives?

Create a master list of goals for the next quarter. Ask yourself: What is the work that we need to achieve them? Then, organize by priority and assign priorities to your team members.

Set fewer goals

Too many goals lead to burnout and ambiguity. Instead, focus on 2 to 3 material results per quarter. Hone in on what really needs to be achieved and monitor each items progress. For example, on Accelo you can utilize our project planning, project tracking, task management, and time tracking tools. All of these tools will provide you with a platform to stay on track and refine the details. You’ll also be able to use our products to manage expectations, progress, and goals.

Create accountability

Break priorities into weekly tasks, and each week discuss what needs to be accomplished. Weekly check-in meetings will show team members how objectives are progressing so that everyone is always on the same page when it comes to the status of a certain task or project.

Use metrics

Quantify results and use material metrics. Examples of metrics that are easy to track include revenue, customers, profit, and other clearly defined goals. This helps to reinforce priorities, so team members can always ask themselves if what they’re working on is important enough to take time and resources away from the main goals.

Meet regularly

How often are you meeting with your team? Weekly meetings reiterate goals and give people a chance to report status updates, use status reports, and celebrate progress. Be sure to track all the time you spend in those meetings, though - it could be costing you $32,000 in leaked revenue each year!

When it comes to optimizing for success what else works for your team? We’d love to hear in the comments. If you like our take on Q3 goals and want to be more profitable next quarter, sign up for a free trial of Accelo today and see how we can help your business succeed.
